Invest In Your Child's Success

The PTA’s “Invest in Your Child’s Success” campaign is the largest source of capital for PTA-funded enrichment programs and material school support here at PS/IS 217. Through this drive, the PTA is able to fund dance, drama, music, and other enrichments that complement the school’s academic curriculum. These funds also pay for classroom books, school supplies, staff professional development, technology and support the school library.
Through the funding of these in-school programs, supplies, and equipment, the “Invest In Your Child’s Success” drive benefits every student. Our suggested investment amount is $600 per child, but our ultimate goal is 100% participation, with every family contributing what they can.

What is PS/IS 217 PTA's "Invest in Your Child's Success" drive? 

The PS/IS 217 PTA’s “Invest in Your Child’s Success” drive is an annual fundraising campaign to solicit money directly from 217 families and friends to pay for classroom enrichments, school equipment, and support services for your child. 

How much should I donate? 

This year, the PTA will spend hundreds of dollars on each student for curriculum enrichments, special events, equipment, technology, and many other extras. The requested contribution is $600 per child. You may donate more, but please give what you can afford. 

How can I donate? 

Donate online at www.psis217.org/invest_in_your_childs_success and follow directions. You can make a one-time payment or set up monthly recurring payments. 

Donate by check by mailing it or dropping it off in the main office. 

Are donations tax deductible? 

Yes! PS/IS 217 PTA is a non-profit, recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3), IRS Tax ID:13-3332178. All contributions are tax deductible as allowed by law. 

How important is my participation? 

Participation is a proven component to the success of your child’s academic career and your involvement in both PTA/School activities and fundraising efforts is essential. We count on the generosity of your time and financial support in giving our children the support they deserve. In addition, participation also plays a critical role in 217's eligibility for various outside grants and other funding sources throughout the year. Each year we aim for 100$% participation and whether it’s $20 or $2,000 our expectation is that you’ll do your part! 

217 is a public school. Why should I contribute to a public school? 

Public school parents throughout New York City are asking this question. It is standard practice for PTAs to solicit significant contributions to supplement a school’s budget. The money raised by the PTA allows our school administration and teachers to provide the many enrichments our students deserve. 

Can I participate in my corporate matching program? 

YES! Many companies match their employees’ charitable contributions. Ask your company if it matches donations to non-profit (501(c)(3)) organizations. If so, contact our Treasurers at: 217ptatreasurer@gmail.com to obtain any details your company may need.
