Middle School at 217

The middle school at PS/IS 217 is a small community of diverse learners. We have one class on each grade level (6, 7, and 8), and our core content area teachers teach all three classes. Our special education teachers work with our content area teachers to support students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) as well as students who may need extra help in accessing the middle school curriculum. Because of the small and intimate nature of our community, our teachers are able to follow our students throughout their middle school years, and form relationships that allow them to become attuned to each student’s individual academic and social-emotional needs.

Our building is modern and fully accessible. Our amenities include a full-sized auditorium, a two-room library, two computer labs, a gymnasium, and a large school yard. Lockers are available for all middle school students. Our PS/IS 217 school community is incredibly diverse, representing over 100 countries from around the world, and to honor and showcase our diversity, we have flags from each represented country hanging in our hallways. See for yourself on our virtual tour.
